Quality (Shift) Team Leader 1

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive core tools (Control Plans, PFMEA, SPC, MSA) and quality systems like IATF 16949 and ISO 9001. Quality Leadership: Lead and support quality inspectors, rework technicians, and containment personnel across production lines.

Overview

This role is essential for leading quality operations and inspection teams during production shifts. The position ensures the maintenance of high-quality standards in manufacturing processes, focusing on zero defects, rapid response to non-conformance issues, and adherence to industry standards like IATF 16949. Key responsibilities include executing containment and rework protocols effectively.

Responsibilities

• Quality Leadership: Lead and support quality inspectors, rework technicians, and containment personnel across production lines.
• Customer Interface: Serve as the primary contact for quality issues, addressing concerns such as fit, finish, electrical connections, and cosmetic blemishes.
• Containment Management: Initiate containment procedures, quarantine non-conforming materials, and manage sorting or rework processes.
• Root Cause Analysis: Facilitate 5-Why, 8D, and Ishikawa problem-solving activities for defects and customer feedback.
• Process & Quality Audits: Conduct process audits, product audits, torque verifications, and gauge checks to ensure compliance with SOPs and control plans.
• Shift Reporting: Log defect data, scrap, rework metrics, and PPM tracking; conduct shift handoff briefings.
• Training & Compliance: Coach operators and technicians on inspection criteria, defect awareness, and standard work practices.

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• Experience: 2–4 years in quality control or assurance within high-volume automotive manufacturing.
• Leadership Experience: Minimum 1 year in a lead, supervisory, or senior technician role directing shift personnel.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive core tools (Control Plans, PFMEA, SPC, MSA) and quality systems like IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Experience with structured methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams).
• Communication & Shift Flexibility: Strong communication skills and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical assembly, panoramic sunroofs, weather-stripping, adhesives, and wiring harnesses.
