The Quality Performance Improvement Coordinator performs systematic and objective performance improvement activities for both clinical and non-clinical areas as well as administrative support for the Quality/Regulatory/Patient Safety Team. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:
Provides administrative support for Quality/Regulatory/Patient Safety including support for meetings: including but not limited to scheduling, coordinating agendas, taking minutes, compiling day of final presentations, distributing pre-meeting packets, copying meeting materials, preparing meeting minutes. Meetings include Regulatory, Patient Safety, PICC, QAPIC, SERT, MSEC.
Assists in performance improvement activities to monitor the quality of care to meet regulatory standards
Performs specific performance improvement activities necessary for the clinical and administrative staffs to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care to meet regulatory requirements (e.g., DPH, TJC, CMS)
Provides data abstraction from hospital applications and inputs into internal and external databases to support publicly reported measures and other performance improvement activities. Coordinates medical record audits for the state, federal, and/or managed care review
Interprets regulatory specifications of Core Measures and accurately oversees CMS validation requirements
Generates analytical reports with statistical quality control tools for specialized and generic performance improvement activities
Identifies problems that have an impact on patient care and the clinical performance of members of the hospital staff
Qualifications
Education:
Experience:
One to three years of experience in the medical record or equivalent medical terminology knowledge
Knowledge of quality improvement methods, tools and techniques strongly preferred
