Responsibilities

We are looking for somebody who can be a leader in the inspection department, manage and mentor the 3+ inspectors, have significant manufacturing experience, and excellent manufacturing judgement.

• Take a proactive approach to maintaining and improving quality output for the shop. Help department managers develop methods and techniques for monitoring production to improve process control.
• Ability to analyze discrepant materials and find the root cause of the discrepancies
• Lead the inspection team, act as subject matter expert and an arbiter to resolve disputes about part quality.
• Work with other department managers and operators to communicate about and resolve quality issues that may arise.
• Help the company create and update procedures which relate to inspection and quality.
• Manage the measurement tool calibration system, and order additional devices and gages as required.
• Manage any "Discrepant Material" that may occur, including documenting issues and working to resolve them.
• Help the quality team to develop appropriate inspection plans
• Help write and manage the CMM programs for the inspection department
• Analyze output to assure all parts are in compliance with customer requirements.
• Customer contact to help resolve any quality issues in manufacturing.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field or equivalent work experience. 12+ years of experience in a manufacturing field, ideally in an ISO-9000 or ISO-13485 certified company. 2-5+ years of direct machine shop experience. Strong CMM experience (including programming) would be a big plus. Experience with SPC a major plus. Ability to read and understand mechanical technical drawings. Very familiar with standard high precision inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, drop indicators, measuring microscopes, optical comparator, CMM and vision-based automatic inspection systems. Familiarity with Minitab or similar analysis package is a plus. Familiar with MS windows, and MS office, especially MS Excel.
