JOB TITLE: Quality Manager   


LOCATION: Capewell Aerial Systems - South Windsor, CT


REPORTS TO: President


 


POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Manager provides strategic and hands-on leadership for the quality department and is responsible for managing quality personnel, customer and supplier interface, maintaining compliance with all AS9100, ISO, and regulatory requirements, and drives operational efficiency and continuous improvement in support of customer and business objectives.


 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manage and maintain the Capewell Quality efforts and personnel

  • Maintain Quality Management System (QMS) and AS9100 Aerospace Standard

  • Evaluate production operations from a strategic level to ensure that products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements

  • Develop and assure Quality Assurance Department budget is maintained

  • Manage internal auditing activities

  • Collaborate with management and senior staff across production departments, to draft acceptable quality standards and compliance procedures

  • Develop and implement quality standard testing and evaluation processes

  • Assess test results and approves recommended changes

  • Review quality control documentation such as checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, compliance, and relevance

  • Periodically report the status of quality control and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies

  • Be accountable for Quality Program management and timely performance of Quality Assurance Department tasks

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.

  • Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.

  • This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor where safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes are required by all.


 OTHER DUTIES: Perform additional duties as directed by management to support departmental and organizational objectives.


 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for all direct reports, ensuring timely, constructive feedback and alignment with organizational goals. Applies progressive discipline promptly and consistently, manages performance on a regular basis, and addresses issues as they arise.

  • Engage with team members regularly to ensure proactive conflict resolution, development, and alignment on tasks and priorities.

  • Assist in the company’s goal-setting process by recommending department goals and working with team members to assign individual goals



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:



  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in quality management roles with increasing responsibility

  • Significant experience may replace the education requirement

  • Affiliation with ASQ a plus

  • AS9102 experience and execution

  • Experience with dimensional inspection and supplier certification

  • Internal auditor experience

  • Experience with AS9100 rev. D

  • Expert level root cause and corrective action experience

  • Significant experience in collection of data and statistical process control

  • People management skills

  • Familiarity with government source inspection

  • FAA and/or Department of Defense experience

  • Experience with GD&T or IMTE

  • Experience with government contract reviews

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

  • The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • The Team Member must occasionally climb up to 10 steps and/or 9’ high on a ladder

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed inspections and the ability to pass color blindness testing.


 WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and sometimes excessive.

  • This is a full-time, onsite position.

  • The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 7:30AM – 5PM and every other Friday 7:30AM – 4PM, with a 30-minute lunch break.


COMPENSATION: The hiring range for this position is $115k-$140k. This range is an estimate and the actual saalry may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
