Description

Position Summary: The Quality Manager will be a key member of the Quality department reports to the Quality Director. They will work closely with the project teams, including trade partners, to plan and execute quality work on the job site daily, ensuring materials and installations meet Quality requirements of Hoffman Construction and the project contract documents. To best support Hoffman's dedication to our people and our teams, this position will be located at the job site where work is being performed, in or around the greater Seattle area

Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 DOE + Incentives

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage project specific QA/QC Programs and Plans.
  • Perform Quality Audits of construction activities and major subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct regular quality meetings to discuss, track and resolve quality issues.
  • Review and sign off on Construction work plans, Inspectors Daily Reports, Quality Audits, NCRs, and Readiness Review meetings.
  • Review and approve trade contractor QA/QC Programs and Methods of Procedure to ensure alignment with general contractor and client program requirements.
  • Facilitate work groups related to coordination and collaboration on QA/QC activities with trade partners, construction managers, superintendents as needed to meet quality standards of Hoffman Construction and the project.
  • Review design documents to identify constructability errors or omissions.
  • Be a resource and mentor for developing staff and be a conduit for technical information throughout the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage accountability of trade partners performing work on site to ensure adherence to applicable project specifications, building codes, industry standards, and special inspection requirements.
  • Manage a team that monitors all construction activities & work on the project to verify and document adherence to design documents, project specifications, industry standards, building codes, and client expectations.
  • Manage a team that schedules, coordinates, and witnesses QA/QC activities on site.
  • Manage a team that independently solves problems regarding building material interactions and details.

Qualifications

Position Related Skills:

  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Teams etc), Procore, and other QA/QC related software.
  • Experience developing systems and procedures to institute effective quality practices across different skillsets and project types preferred.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with a variety of trade and craft people in a fieldwork situation. Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
  • Able to perform all physical & mental job functions mentioned below.

Education and Professional Experience

Required:

  • At least Ten (10) years of construction experience in any combination of roles as follows: Project engineer, construction field engineer, QC manger/supervisor on large commercial construction projects.
  • At least Five (5) years of construction quality manager experience on large complex multi-year commercial projects.
  • Previous experience on Public Transportation/Light Rail projects
  • High School diploma or GED required.

Preferred:

  • USACE CQM Certification
  • OSHA 10/ 30

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting/ Climbing: Workday is combination of sitting, walking, standing, and climbing.
  • Legs: Must be able to climb stairs and walk long distances of up to 10 miles - 50-75% of day.
  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer/ tablet use.
  • Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
  • Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone and radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment.
  • Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of large groups, and be understood over video conference, telephone, and radio.
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 40lb computer/drawings: Minimal.
  • Bending/Twisting: 25% of day.
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: 25% of day.
  • Climbing: Must be able to climb ladders/ stairs, use manlifts/ MEWP's, and be able to physically access all areas of the construction site.

Mental Requirements:

  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and thorough attention to detail required.
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, follow through on all assignments, and follow up on tasks assigned to others.
  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational problem-solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers and other project stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative, be proactive, and take ownership of issues to ensure they are completed to a high standard of quality and accuracy.
  • Brings a client service mindset to all activities, a proactive approach to anticipating needs and improving processes.
  • Intense curiosity and willingness to learn about a wide variety of topics, self-starter with the skills to research and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Ability to interface with many diverse positions and personalities, to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
