Quality Manager (Machining & Precision Manufacturing)
Location: Erie, PA Area
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: 1st Shift

We are seeking a high-caliber Quality Manager to lead the quality functions of our precision machining operations in the Erie area. This role is the technical authority for our Quality Management System (QMS) and a hands-on advisor-leader on the shop floor, ensuring every part that leaves our facility meets the exacting standards required by our customers as we scale with new clients.

The Role:
This isn't just a compliance role; it’s a high-impact leadership position. You will be the bridge between our engineering goals and shop-floor execution. You will guide our manufacturing staff and inspectors on daily priorities, ensuring "Quality at the Source" is more than just a catchphrase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Systems Leadership: Own and continuously improve the ISO 9001:2015 QMS, maintain audit readiness, and lead internal and external audits.
  • Tactical & Team Leadership: Direct day-to-day inspection and manufacturing quality activities, mentor the inspection team, and ensure production schedules meet quality milestones.
  • Metrology & Inspection: Oversee inspection activities and gaging strategy, including the use and programming of CMMs, FARO arms, and other measurement systems (from hand tools to advanced CMM/Vision systems).
  • Customer & Technical Authority: Serve as the primary interface for customer quality concerns, manage PPAP submissions, First Article Inspections (FAI), and APQP, and advise on complex tolerance and process issues.
  • Problem Solving & Corrective Action: Lead Root Cause Analysis and implement sustainable Corrective Actions (CAPA) to reduce scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: At least 5+ years in a manufacturing quality role, with 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency reading complex engineering prints and advanced GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing); strong metrology judgment to select the most effective gaging method for the job.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong background in a CNC machine shop environment; experience in Aerospace (AS9100) or Automotive (IATF 16949) sectors is highly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Leadership & Change Management: Proven ability to develop a quality improvement roadmap and lead teams through implementation.
  • Certifications: ASQ certifications such as CQE or CMQ/OE and Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are strong assets.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Benefits: Comprehensive package including Health/Dental/Vision, 401(k) matching, vacation, work holidays and professional development assistance.
