Position Overview

The Quality Manager II is responsible for leading quality management activities across large, complex, or multiple commercial construction projects on behalf of the Owner. This role provides independent oversight of contractor quality programs to verify compliance with Owner Project Requirements (OPR), contract documents, and applicable regulatory requirements. The Quality Manager II collaborates with project teams to identify and resolve quality issues, mentors junior quality professionals, and supports successful project delivery through proactive quality oversight and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide quality management policies, procedures, and standards for commercial construction projects.
  • Lead quality management activities on large, complex, or multiple capital projects, ensuring construction execution aligns with Owner Project Requirements (OPR), contract documents, design intent, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Provide independent oversight of contractor quality programs by reviewing Quality Management Plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), submittals, shop drawings, mock-ups, material selections, and quality documentation for compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct routine field observations, quality assessments, and project audits to verify construction quality, identify potential risks, and recommend corrective actions that protect the Owner's interests.
  • Collaborate with Owners, project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, commissioning teams, and third-party inspectors to proactively resolve quality concerns and minimize project risk.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics, issue logs, nonconformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and testing documentation while preparing detailed quality reports for project leadership and Owners.
  • Support commissioning, startup, turnover, and project closeout by verifying completion of quality-related deliverables, punch list items, testing documentation, and turnover packages.
  • Mentor Quality Manager I personnel by providing technical guidance, field coaching, and support in implementing quality management best practices.
  • Assist in developing standardized quality procedures, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance consistency across projects.
  • Serve as a trusted quality resource for project teams by facilitating issue resolution, promoting proactive risk management, and reinforcing Owner quality expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the Owner during quality meetings, project reviews, and field coordination activities while communicating project quality status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in quality management or QA/QC roles within commercialconstruction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience developing and implementing QA/QC programs for commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams and client representatives.
