Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Production Manager to align quality assurance activities with production goals and timelines.

  • Represent the Quality Department at production meetings, providing updates related to supplier and customer quality concerns.
  • Participate in customer source inspections of parts and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Lead or assist in mechanical inspection processes, including in-process inspections, final inspections, and AS9102 first article inspections for precision-machined parts.
  • Supervise or perform CMM parts inspections (PCDMIS experience preferred) to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to engineering specifications.
  • Review and verify material and processing certifications for compliance with aerospace standards.
  • Create and review AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports to ensure quality and engineering requirements are met.
  • Conduct inspections of materials and machined parts for size, condition, and conformance to specifications using manual inspection tools (micrometers, surface plates, optical comparators, thread gauges, etc.).
  • Document and maintain inspection records, including reports, logs, scanned documentation, and compliance certification files.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders to address issues promptly and professionally.
  • Provide support to the General Manager on quality-related initiatives as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical inspection or equivalent machine shop experience (as a machinist).
  • Technical Skills: Skilled in interpreting GD&T standards (ANSI Y14.5) and inspecting complex, close-tolerance precision-machined parts made from aircraft-grade alloys.
  • Inspection Tools Knowledge: Proficiency in using precision hand tools such as micrometers, indicators, height gauges, optical comparator systems, and CMM tools.
  • Mathematics Knowledge: Strong competency in shop math, trigonometry, and related calculations.
  • Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, file management, email communication, and PDF scanning/saving.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to interface professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal colleagues.
  • Compliance: Must hold U.S. citizenship or equivalent due to government contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CMM Experience: Familiarity with PCDMIS software for advanced component inspections.
  • Prior experience in aerospace or precision machining environments is strongly preferred.
