Quality Lead

• POSITION - Quality Lead- Manufacturing Plant
• LOCATION - Sacramento, CA
• HOURLY RATE - $29-$36 per hour- Hourly rate is based on experience
• SHIFT- Monday- Friday- 6am to 3:30pm

  KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direction of Quality Technicians

Ensure compliance with established quality systems.

• Coordinate all changes.

• Ensure completion of required audits and inspections.

• Collect and process all quality system documents.

Participate in warehouse walks and Conduct follow up.

• Compile data.

• Consult with line leaders concerning defects found.

• Determinecorrective actions andimplementation.

• Compile andmaintainspreadsheetsindicatingnon-conformance issues andsubsequent

corrective actions. 

Review returned glass from customers.

• Analyze defects.

• Record on SharePoint

• Bring defects toProductiondepartments’ attention.

Develop andmaintainquality escalationprocess.

Establishmentandmaintain1stArticle Inspection process.

Perform all Quality system operations.

• Perform process audits of equipment setup and conditions to ensure process controls areobserved. 

• Assistproduction inidentifyingrootcauseof defect trends. Recommend corrective/containment action asappropriate.

• Create and execute MPS objectives; meet MPS commitments and work within the guidelines of MPS.

• Reflect Milgard business values andMilgardPhilosophy in all business interactions.

• Adhere to safety policies and procedures related to allfacetsof job.

• Proper usage of personal protective equipment.

• Perform in-process and final inspection of insulated glass units, windows, and doors

• Identifyand segregate nonconforming raw material for disposition.

• Reports problems and issues to supervisor and production management

AUTHORITY TO ACT

Independent Authority

• May place suspected nonconforming material on hold ordesignateas “sort for use” for noncompliance with published specifications or standards, including any questionable undocumented variation that may be unacceptable to the customer based on form, fit, function, or appearance.

• Reject finished windows, doors, or IG units based on audit results.

• Investigate any quality issues as they arise. 

Act Then Advise

• Provide disposition of clearly nonconforming material anddesignateas “Return to Supplier/Vendor”.

• Require containment of finished goods and/or work in-progress for defects affecting form/fit/function/appearance.

• Provide corrective and supportive feedback to operatorsregardingprocess and product quality, following up with leads.

• Increase sample sizes of process/product audits based onpublishedthe Quality Action Plan.

Recommend Then Act

• Shut down line production for clear negligence of quality issues or refusal to take containment or corrective action. 

• Issue formal Corrective Action Requests.

• Scrap whole bundles of nonconforming vinyl extrusion or finished window/door units.

• Decrease sample size or any change to the frequency of sampling for process/product audits

• Release containment of finished goods and/or work in-progress for defects affecting form/fit/function/appearance.

• RequestWaiversfor mis-processed products orDeviationsfor substitution of part/subassembly/process step.

• Changes to published standards, work instructions, or other quality documentation. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 2-year related experience as a Quality Assurance Associate

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING:

• Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent

ESSENTIAL ABILITIES:

• Clear spoken and written English skills

• Basic shop math skills: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, fraction/decimal conversion, calculate percentage.

• Basic skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications

• Conflict management skills

• Assertive communication skills including active listening and paraphrasing for understanding.

• Manage multiple tasks and effective prioritization skills

• Participate or lead aproblem solvingteam

ESSENTIAL ABILITIES: (Cont’d)

• Basic understanding of DMAIC process and common tools

• Understanding of manufacturing value stream from receiving to shipping

• Interpret engineering drawings

• Ability to influence others toward positive change.

• Initiative to start and complete tasks on time.

Physical Requirements

• Use hands to perform power grasping.

• Reach above/below shoulder level

• Bend & twist at the neck or waist

• Stand/walk

• Use hands/fingers to perform keyboarding tasks

• Lift, carry over 50 pounds alone, up to 100 pounds withassistance

• Close vision, color perception, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, abilityto adjust focus.

• Overtime may be.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

• Occasionally works in a climate-controlled office where the sound level is quiet

• Regularly exposed to excessive noise, dust, fumes, or chemicals on theshop floor.

• Regularly wears personal protective equipment on the shopfloor
