PGS Worldwide is seeking an Electronics Quality Inspector in Wayne, New Jersey for an approximately six-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will inspect electronic assemblies, circuit cards, wiring, components, and mechanical features to verify compliance with engineering drawings, process instructions, IPC/J-STD requirements, and applicable quality standards.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- Experience inspecting electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, circuit cards, components, and/or related hardware.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, process instructions, and assembly documentation.
- Experience using inspection tools such as calipers, gauges, microscopes, and other precision measurement equipment.
- Knowledge of IPC standards and J-STD requirements.
- Ability to inspect component orientation, masking, soldering, conformal coating, wiring, cables, hardware, and related assembly features.
- Experience identifying, documenting, and tracking manufacturing defects.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional manufacturing teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Skills
- Soldering and/or solder-inspection experience.
- 3+ years of quality-inspection experience with complex circuit card assemblies.
- IPC-A-610 certification.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.
- Technical-school training in electronics manufacturing.
- Experience using mechanical hand-measurement tools.
What You'll Do
- Inspect electronic assemblies and hardware for compliance with current configuration and quality requirements.
- Inspect circuit cards, components, wiring, cables, subassemblies, and installed hardware.
- Identify assembly errors and nonconforming conditions.
- Perform conformal-coating inspections using black-light equipment.
- Perform mechanical inspections using appropriate hand tools and measurement equipment.
- Inspect work against drawings, specifications, engineering change orders, process instructions, and quality standards.
- Verify soldering, masking, component orientation, conformal coating, and other workmanship requirements.
- Document defects and enter inspection results into applicable quality systems.
- Reinspect assemblies following rework, repair, or modification to verify corrective actions.
- Work with engineering to resolve technical questions and clarify engineering changes.
Work Schedule / Shift
- First shift, Monday Friday.
- 9/80 work schedule.
- Approximately 7:00 AM 3:00 PM.
- Overtime may be required.
- Full-time onsite in Wayne, New Jersey.
