Quality Inspector
Location: Flowood, MS
A growing custom metal fabrication and welding manufacturer is seeking a Quality Inspector to support quality assurance efforts throughout the production process. This position is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, work-in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and company quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming materials and verify conformity to specifications and engineering drawings.
- Identify and document materials and ensure proper traceability.
- Inspect work-in-process and finished products prior to shipment.
- Verify that quality procedures are followed throughout all stages of production.
- Utilize measuring and testing equipment including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Depth and Height Gauges
- Tape Measures
- Paint Thickness Testers
- Rockwell Hardness Testers
- Gauge Blocks
- pH Meters
- Thermometers
- Weld Fillet Gauges
- Maintain accurate inspection records and complete all required documentation.
- Review product specifications for new and existing products.
- Assist with identifying quality concerns and support corrective action efforts.
- Work in a manufacturing shop environment that is not climate controlled.
- Report directly to the Engineering and Quality Manager.
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing quality experience strongly preferred, particularly in sheet metal fabrication, welding, or metal manufacturing environments.
- Ability to accurately use and read precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints required; welding print knowledge is highly desirable.
- Understanding of quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001:2015, ASTM, and IEEE standards is preferred but not required.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- Combination of relevant education and quality-related work experience preferred.
