Description

As a quality, growth and continuous improvement-oriented company, Lavelle is searching for a Quality Engineer at the Whitewater, WI facility to provide leadership to all aspects of quality and related project implementation. This position will report to the Quality Manager and with dotted line report, to the Whitewater Plant Manager to drive quality and productivity improvements in plastic molding, TPE molding, assembly, packaging and warehousing. This position will work cross-functionally with quality, sales, manufacturing staff, maintenance and fellow engineer.

Responsibilities

The Quality Engineer role is to lead improvement of existing manufacturing processes and ensure proper documentation exists to support the production process in making a quality product. The successful candidate must be able to quickly coordinate countermeasures and gauge their effectiveness while fostering a team-oriented environment focused on the PDSA process (plan, do, study, act). The ideal candidate will be highly focused on quality and process improvement, and have a relentless drive to sustain results and identify further improvements. The list below contains additional details regarding responsibilities:

  • Respond decisively to quality issues, whether internally or externally identified, through involving others in designing experiments to quickly drive to root cause, identifying possible countermeasures, and implementing effective sustainable corrective actions.
  • Take responsibility for outcomes related to quality and project implementations.
  • Utilize MiniTab, DOE, and strong statistical knowledge to lead efforts that improve existing part and process quality and performance.
  • Provide guidance to anyone involved with quality processes ensuring their focus is equally shared between continuous improvement and supporting the daily function of the quality management system.
  • Develop quality control plans (e.g. visual standards, Inspection Drawings, video work instructions) and inspection methods for new and existing products.
  • Develop standard work to ensure all processes within the operation have specific direction and method.
  • Support day-to-day maintenance and continuous improvement of Lavelle's quality system.
  • Coordinate with team in Burlington to solve problems collaboratively.
  • Support day-to-day operation as quality issues arise.
  • Communicate directly with customers and suppliers to resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Develop others through guiding root cause sessions.
  • Quickly bring problem solving groups together to facilitate root cause discovery and abatement.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of Quality experience or related
  • The ideal candidate is one who is experienced with the deployment and maintenance of all the facets relating to quality systems, quality tools, root cause analysis, data collection, data transformation, turning data into action items and sustaining implementations.
  • Degree in Engineering or Business Operations required
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Deep problem solving tool box: A3, DOE, PDSA, Root Cause Analysis.
  • Proven track record of results focused on process improvement.
  • Confident autonomous self starter. Comfortable performing multifunctional tasks while achieving desired results.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, responsible and positive, regardless of obstacles.
  • Strong work ethics, a blend of hustle, process capability, and problem solving.
  • Persuasive and tactful with customers while performing required functions and obtaining company goals.
  • Interpersonal skills - interested and is able to develop and maintain strong relationships through

technical knowledge, personality, and communication.

  • Time is of the essence mentality - regular follow-up versus "I'm waiting for…"
  • Organized to perform multifunctional tasks without adversely affecting results.
  • Willing to wear multiple hats as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Willing to spend significant amount of time working on the production floor with all levels of the production team in order to see the operation and build relationships.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office products to collect, process, and disseminate data and metrics (Excel, Access, Power Automate, Share Point, macros)
