    Description


    The Quality Engineer works collaboratively with production, engineering, finished goods, customer service, service centers and suppliers to ensure that processes are followed, and process outcomes meet or exceed expectations. The Quality Engineer is a leader in advanced quality planning, supplier quality feedback/improvements in quality processes and continuous improvement.

    • Support New Product Development and Change Management with both internal engineering and with suppliers to support print requirements

    • Support and help improve Advanced Quality Planning activities within product development and sourcing for process hand-off to Manufacturing, including measurement devices

    • Develop QMS documentation

    • Assist with calibration management planning and execution according to IAPMO standards

    • Perform/Approve First Article Inspections

    • Ensure manufacturing follows predetermined quality standards

    • Perform internal quality system and product audits according to ISO 9001, IAPMO standards and Zurn Elkay organizational quality management system

    • Report supplier non conformances through the Global Supplier Quality reporting system and Business Unit systems

    • Coordinate nonconforming material containment process within the business unit

    • Manage and support the CAR/CAPA process, working across departments internally and with suppliers and corporate supplier quality to resolve customer quality concerns

    • Perform nonconforming material analysis

    • Support Applications Engineering and Operations in clarifying production print in conjunction with documenting organizational knowledge

    • Develop a knowledge of products across multiple platforms and mentor Quality Technicians

    • Maintain quality records

    • Support continuous improvement activities (#CI) across the company as required

    • Attend trade shows as needed to benchmark measurement system improvements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 3-5 years experience OR  technical degree

    • Knowledge of blueprint reading

    • Experience with various forklifts and stock-handling preferred

    • Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)

    • Working knowledge of 8D/Safety problem solving

    • ZEBS knowledge a plus (Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen)

    • Can work with Hand Gauges (calipers, micrometers, etc.)

    • Experience supporting quality activities in a manufacturing environment required

    • Experience working directly with production teams to resolve quality and process issues preferred

    • Experience in machining, fabrication, sheet metal, foundry, welding, or other industrial manufacturing environments strongly preferred

    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production operations, including machining and fabrication processes, preferred

    • FARO or CMM knowledge a plus
