Quality Engineer

Main Responsibilities

• Update/maintain the Control Plan for the assigned workflows.
• Serve as the primary contact source with customer/supplier representatives, maintain positive communication and relationship, support and attend meetings, reviews and audits.
• Ensure that the quality system is maintained in accordance with the YF iOS standards.
• Facilitate problem solving teams and respond to customer discrepancy notices.
• Verify corrective actions and prepare problem solving customer correspondence related to quality concerns or issues.
• Participate in internal and external quality audits, and report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
• Establish process controls, assist in training of new projects and buy-off on new/modified equipment and processes.
• Participate in workgroups (e.g., FMEA, PSMC, etc.).
• Support the risk and failure analysis (PFMEA) reviews.
• Perform root cause analysis of technical quality problems, with support of a cross functional team.
• Support quality/dimensional control systems (i.e., X&R charts, gage studies, Six Sigma, dimensional capability studies).
• Program CMMs using PCDMIS CMM Software.
• Develop reports using Datapage / Dataview Statistical Software and or MS Excel.
• Perform CMM layouts / studies for pre and post launch activities.
• Perform Gage Layouts.
• Maintain inspection and calibration records.

Common Requirements

• Bachelors Level Degree in Quality, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience in Quality or Engineering related function.
• 3-5 Years of Experience working in the field of Quality, Engineering CI or similar (recent college graduate is considered acceptable).
• 3-5 Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
• Possesses strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment, establishing partnerships both internally and externally.
• Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess knowledge on the fundamentals of PPAP and APQP processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
• Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive related is highly desirable.
• Understanding of the Quality function such as customer service, metrology, and quality analysis techniques (i.e., Design of experiments, Red X, PPAP, Control Plan, etc.).

Specific Requirements Education:

• Bachelors degree in Quality, Engineering, or Science related field with 1-3 years of related work experience.
• American Society for Quality certification, such as current CQE status, is highly desirable.

Work Experience:

• Experience with ISO/IATF 16949 Quality Systems is required.
• Lead Auditor certification is highly desirable.
• Experience in Advanced Quality Planning including strong proficiency with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan, FMEAs, PPAPs, MSA and Statistical Process Control (SPC) standards.
• Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive related.

Qualifications (General/EHS/Quality):

• Knowledge of statistical concepts, design of experiments and problem solving methodology is required.
• Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience is required.
• Black Belt certification and experience with Minitab software is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable.
• Proficient in use of a computer and common office software (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment.
• Good mechanical/technical skills and ability to read engineering drawings are desirable.
• GD&T proficiency is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem solving skills, including experience preparing problem solving documents such as 8Ds.

Quality Mgmt. System (e.g. IATF16949) - Apply to Management team (Manager and above), Quality Professionals and Quality personnel (eg. AME, ME, PE etc.).

Internal auditor(Incl. System, process and product auditor) - Apply to BOS Auditor, Process Auditor and Product Auditor*.

Colour/Appearance Evaluation - Apply to Colour Evaluation personal (e.g. Appearance Engineer, Operator, Inspector, etc.).

Product Safety - Apply to Product safety personnel (e.g. Safety Parts Engineer, Buyer, Operator, Inspector etc.).

Regional Requirement

• This position is located at a manufacturing/plant facility.
• Travel to customer, other Company manufacturing sites, Company corporate sites, and supplier sites will be involved.
• This position may require work with potentially hazardous products in a controlled, safe environment.
