Location: Waterloo, IA

Pay Rate: $37.00 - $44.00/hour (Based on Experience)

Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM | Overtime May Be Available

Duration: Long-Term Contract Opportunity

Work Environment: 100% Onsite Manufacturing Facility

Position Overview

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support drivetrain component manufacturing operations in Waterloo, Iowa. This role will focus on driving product quality improvements, supporting production operations, resolving manufacturing issues, and leading continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience with quality engineering tools, statistical analysis, corrective actions, and manufacturing processes, along with the ability to work cross-functionally to improve product and process performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead resolution of drivetrain manufacturing quality issues in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing quality tools and methodologies.
  • Support and lead projects involving PFMEA, Quality Improvement Teams (QIT), Design Process Quality (DPQ), Six Sigma, and Smart Factory initiatives.
  • Plan, organize, and execute quality improvement projects across multiple departments.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving methods and statistical analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve control plans and quality system documentation.
  • Analyze manufacturing and warranty-related data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to ensure quality standards are met and exceeded.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience utilizing quality management tools and methodologies, including:

  • FMEA

  • SPC (Statistical Process Control)

  • Root Cause Analysis

  • Control Plans

  • Gauge R&R

  • MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis)

  • Capability Studies

  • Experience reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings.

  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).

  • Experience performing advanced data analysis and statistical evaluations.

  • Experience leading corrective action investigations and driving issue resolution.

  • Knowledge of gear or shaft manufacturing processes, standards, and quality controls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline.

  • Project management experience and ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, and/or Minitab.

  • ASQ Certifications such as:

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB)

  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB)

  • Previous drivetrain, machining, or manufacturing shop-floor experience.

Work Environment

  • 100% onsite position within a manufacturing facility.
  • Approximately 75% of time spent on the production floor.
  • Must be comfortable working in a shop-floor environment.
  • Business casual dress code.
  • Metatarsal safety boots required on the first day.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
