Job Description
The Quality Engineer coordinates resources to support manufacturing operations, leads quality and cost-improvement projects, and supports new product launches. This role drives quality improvements across the entire value stream, from vendors to the end customer.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Communication:
- Coach and develop Quality Technicians, Monitors, Analysts, and Group Leads.
- Lead daily communications during Operations Huddle Board meetings.
- Deliver timely updates across all appropriate plant functions.
Problem Solving & Quality Improvement:
- Drive problem-solving efforts using containment, root cause analysis, and CAPA / 8D methodologies.
- Execute improvement projects leveraging PDCA, Six Sigma, and data-driven priorities (WAR teams).
- Implement permanent corrections to eliminate process and product failures.
- Translate feedback from the customer, process, and business into actionable plant improvements.
Process Control & Safety:
- Audit manufacturing steps against standardized work, Process FMEAs, and Control Plans to fix gaps.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, purchasing, suppliers, engineering, and operations.
- Investigate incidents and support facility-wide plant metrics.
- Prioritize safety by immediately addressing safety or ergonomic issues with a "safety first" attitude.
