Description

Position Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Onsite / Regional Travel (Austin, Atlanta, Miami, Hayward, San Francisco)
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Quality Engineer to oversee production quality, vehicle release protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives for an advanced autonomous ride-hailing fleet. In this role, you will partner cross-functionally across manufacturing, engineering, supplier quality, and fleet operations to verify that every autonomous vehicle entering service meets strict design specifications, functional requirements, and safety standards.
You will play a pivotal role in driving root cause analysis, resolving complex non-conformances, establishing standardized Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) testing protocols, and optimizing manufacturing risk controls across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee non-conformance management for issues identified during production audits and end-of-line vehicle release activities, driving containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions (CAPA).
  • Support the diagnosis and resolution of Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) issues identified during rider quality audits and Early Field Return (EFR) processes.
  • Develop standardized NVH inspection workflows and define the specialized tooling and equipment required for consistent fleet evaluations.
  • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement projects to increase the efficiency and rigors of production quality audits, EFR workflows, and defect tracking.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Vehicle Development to strategically resolve systemic product and process non-conformances across the value stream.
  • Facilitate the development, review, and optimization of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans to strengthen risk mitigation across critical manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze technical quality data, extract actionable insights from enterprise tools, and present verification outcomes clearly to engineering leadership.
  • Travel to key regional manufacturing, test, and fleet facilities (including Austin, Atlanta, Miami, Hayward, and San Francisco) as required by business needs.
Qualifications & Required Skills
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: 8 to 10 years of hands-on quality engineering experience in advanced manufacturing environments (automotive, aerospace, aviation, or high-tech contract manufacturing).
  • Problem-Solving Expertise: Proven mastery of advanced root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Shainin Red X, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt principles).
  • Process Risk Management: Solid working knowledge of PFMEAs, Control Plans, quality audits, and structured containment strategies.
  • Core Competencies: Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage complex technical issues independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior quality engineering experience with an Automotive OEM or Tier 1 automotive supplier.
  • Hands-on expertise extracting, analyzing, and reporting data within enterprise software systems (e.g., SAP, MES, Jira).
  • ASQ Professional Certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer - CQE) or a Six Sigma Black Belt.
