Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join its Milk and Culture Plant in Commerce, California. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, laboratory testing, or food manufacturing quality control who thrives in a fast-paced production environment.
In this critical role, you will help ensure products consistently meet established quality and safety standards through laboratory testing, documentation, equipment calibration, quality control procedures, and continuous improvement.
As a Quality Control Technician, you will perform a variety of laboratory and quality control activities supporting daily plant operations.
Perform product sampling, testing, plating, reading, and recording of test results.
Conduct microbiological, chemical, physical, and organoleptic testing.
Maintain accurate and complete daily quality records.
Perform data entry and track quality control results.
Follow established QC Hold Procedures for products that are out of specification.
Follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs.
Implement quality control processes and testing to ensure products meet required quality standards and specifications.
Evaluate trends in test results and assist in developing corrective plans when deficiencies are identified.
Communicate quality concerns and corrective plans to appropriate employees and management.
Perform laboratory equipment calibration, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
Utilize laboratory supplies and equipment associated with plant sanitation and safety.
Support efforts to maintain an "A" 5-S rating.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Meet with the supervisor daily to discuss issues associated with production and quality.
Apply industry best practices when supporting equipment maintenance and laboratory operations.
Follow all client policies, procedures, quality requirements, and workplace safety standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Candidates should meet one of the following:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline, or
Equivalent experience, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar quality control or laboratory role.
Knowledge of microbiological, chemical, physical, and organoleptic testing.
Experience with laboratory testing equipment and basic equipment maintenance.
Ability to follow detailed testing procedures and SOPs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to recognize trends in test results and identify potential quality deficiencies.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
High degree of initiative and flexibility.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to accurately maintain records and perform data entry.
Proficiency with Windows-based computer programs.
Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and processes quickly.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in cold and loud manufacturing environments.
Must be flexible regarding work hours based on production requirements.
Must be available to work overtime as needed.
Must be able to work the scheduled days of Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Candidates must be eligible to work for an indefinite duration without employment authorization limitations.
