Quality Control Technician IICharlotte, NCTalentBridge is partnered with an established manufacturer in the Charlotte area to identify an experienced Quality Control Technician II to join its Quality team.
This is a hands-on inspection role supporting a manufacturing environment that produces a variety of welded and fabricated components and assemblies. The position will be heavily involved in weld inspection, dimensional inspection and NDE/NDT, along with incoming material, in-process and final inspections.
The ideal candidate will have experience within a fabrication shop, job shop, custom equipment manufacturer or similar environment where they have been exposed to a variety of products, materials and inspection requirements. We are looking for someone who can work independently, read and interpret drawings and specifications, identify quality issues, and accurately document inspection results.
Responsibilities- Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections of fabricated components, weldments, machined parts and assemblies.
- Inspect welds and fabricated products for conformance with engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements and applicable industry standards.
- Perform dimensional inspections using tape measures, micrometers, gauges and other inspection equipment.
- Perform and/or support NDE/NDT inspections and accurately document results.
- Inspect incoming materials and supplier-provided components to verify conformance with specifications and purchasing requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings, welding requirements, specifications and inspection documentation.
- Inspect carbon steel, stainless steel and a variety of welded and fabricated assemblies.
- Prepare inspection and NDE reports and document findings within the company's quality system.
- Identify nonconforming materials or workmanship and clearly communicate findings to the appropriate internal teams.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, suppliers and other members of the Quality team to resolve inspection and quality-related issues.
- Interface with customers and third-party inspectors as needed.
- Occasionally travel to customer or supplier locations to perform or support inspections.
Qualifications- 3+ years of hands-on quality inspection experience within a fabrication, welding, industrial equipment or similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience inspecting welded and fabricated components.
- Experience performing dimensional inspections and working from engineering or fabrication drawings.
- Experience with NDE/NDT inspection methods.
- Familiarity with carbon steel and stainless steel fabrication.
- Working knowledge of common fabrication processes including welding, bending, forming and machining.
- Familiarity with applicable AWS and/or ASME codes and standards.
- Ability to accurately document inspection results and prepare quality/NDE reports.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Experience- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Current or previous NDE/NDT Level II certification or qualification, particularly VT and/or PT/LPT.
- Approximately 5–10 years of quality inspection experience, preferably within a fabrication or job-shop environment.
- Experience with CMM or other advanced dimensional inspection equipment.
- Experience inspecting custom or engineered-to-order fabricated equipment.
- Experience working directly with customers, suppliers or third-party inspectors.
