The role involves overseeing daily Quality department operations across manufacturing and shipping functions while supporting continuous improvement initiatives at the plant level. Provide leadership and direction to the Quality team to ensure evolving customer quality expectations and requirements are met. Lead and maintain documentation for customer complaint investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. Conduct and document investigations into product and component nonconformances to identify underlying causes and preventive measures. Enhance customer satisfaction by proactively reducing quality issues and minimizing customer complaints. Partner with the Value Stream Manager to develop and deliver training related to quality standards, measurement equipment, quality notifications, procedural updates, and related topics. Maintain robust process control systems that emphasize built-in quality practices and reduce internal defects and rework. Perform regular internal quality system audits to verify compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and ensure ongoing effectiveness. Develop competency-based qualification programs for incoming Quality Assurance Technicians and track proficiency using a skills matrix. Manage customer relationships and address product compliance matters with regulatory and certification agencies, including UL and CSA. Analyze and communicate quality performance metrics and trends to plant leadership and management teams. Support cost-reduction efforts and operational improvement projects through the application of quality methodologies and tools, including FMEA, SPC, Gage R&R, process capability studies, Pareto analysis, Lean, and Six Sigma techniques.

The successful applicant will have a bachelors degree, technical/engineering degree preferred. Experience with metal fabrication, steel, heavy industrial manufacturing is a big plus. Five to seven plus years of quality management experience- leading both engineers and techs/inspectors. Experience and willingness to be out on the floor daily, interacting with various teams. Strong knowledge of metrology, GD&T, inspection methods, blueprint reading, etc. ISO9001 QMS Management experience - audits, standard work, process improvement etc. Data/SPC knowledge. Strong customer-facing quality abilities. CQE/CQA certifications a plus.
