Job Summary:
Support the implementation of quality control activities for data center construction projects. Assist the Quality Control Manager in maintaining quality documentation, coordinating inspections, tracking deficiencies, and verifying that work is performed in accordance with project specifications, customer requirements, industry standards, and company expectations. Work closely with project teams, subcontractors, customers, and commissioning personnel to help deliver high-quality installations and successful project turnover. Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist in implementing project-specific quality control plans, procedures, and inspection processes.
- Perform field inspections and walkdowns to verify workmanship, installation quality, and adherence to approved construction documents.
- Maintain and update inspection and test plans (ITPs), inspection checklists, and project quality records.
- Schedule and coordinate quality inspections with subcontractors, customers, owner's representatives, third-party inspectors, and commissioning teams.
- Assist in reviewing drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs to identify quality requirements.
- Log, track, and follow up on non-conformance reports (NCRs), punch list items, deficiencies, and corrective actions through closure.
- Communicate quality issues to field personnel and subcontractors and verify that corrective actions are completed.
- Document inspection results with field notes, photographs, and reports, and keep records organized in the document control system.
- Support testing, startup, commissioning, and turnover activities, including tracking test results and open items.
- Compile and verify as-built documentation, test reports, quality records, turnover packages, and closeout documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare quality status reports, deficiency logs, and metrics for the Quality Control Manager and project leadership.
- Help identify quality trends and recurring issues and recommend improvements.
- Assist with quality-related training and orientation for project personnel and subcontractors.
- Support customer audits, internal audits, and compliance reviews as required.
- Promote a culture of quality and accountability on the project site.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Working knowledge of construction quality processes, inspection procedures, and quality documentation.
- Familiarity with data center construction, mission-critical infrastructure, or commissioning processes preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and thorough documentation.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and escalate them appropriately.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management/document control software.
- Basic understanding of applicable building codes, industry standards, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
Education and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction quality control, quality assurance, inspection, document control, commissioning, or a related field required.
- Experience supporting mission-critical, data center, electrical, telecommunications, or large-scale commercial construction projects preferred.
- Industry certifications related to quality management, construction inspection, or commissioning (or willingness to pursue them) are preferred.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to work in both office and active construction site environments.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and navigating active construction sites.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel to project locations as needed.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with site-specific safety requirements.
- May require extended work hours to support inspections, testing activities, commissioning efforts, and critical project milestones.
