Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician (2nd Shift)Job Description

This role focuses on ensuring the quality and compliance of flexible packaging materials used in healthcare-related products. The Quality Assurance Technician performs mechanical and visual tests, documents results accurately, and collaborates closely with production and quality teams to identify and resolve defects. This is a 2nd shift position (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) in a fast-paced, ISO 9001-certified environment that offers strong opportunities for growth and internal promotion within a global organization serving leading medical device, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and life sciences companies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical tests on materials and products to verify they meet specified standards.
  • Conduct visual inspections, including taking measurements with a ruler, to confirm proper dimensions and print placement on packaging.
  • Carry out color matching activities to ensure printed materials meet required color standards.
  • Perform leak tests and tensile testing on materials and packaging components.
  • Use a ruler and other basic measurement tools to ensure packaging print is in the correct location.
  • Identify defects in materials, packaging, and finished products during inspection and testing.
  • Clearly communicate identified defects and nonconformances to the appropriate team members.
  • Accurately document all tests performed, results obtained, and defects found in accordance with quality and production requirements.
  • Support production by providing good documentation for outputs from production machines.
  • Work closely with other Quality Assurance Technicians and production staff to maintain consistent quality standards.
  • Retrieve samples from the manufacturing floor multiple times per shift and return them to the lab for testing.
  • Stay with each sample from start to finish, ensuring continuity and accuracy in the testing process.
  • Operate within an ISO 9001 environment and follow established quality procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Maintain a fragrance-free, clean, and safe lab environment and comply with all lab rules, including restrictions on personal items.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and thoroughness in all inspection and documentation activities.

Essential Skills

  • Experience performing mechanical tests, visual inspections, and basic measurement activities using tools such as rulers.
  • Ability to perform color matching tasks and accurately distinguish colors for quality purposes.
  • Knowledge of or exposure to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a production or laboratory setting.
  • Quality inspection, quality control, and quality assurance experience or aptitude in a production or laboratory environment.
  • Strong documentation skills for recording outputs from production machines, test results, and defects.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in both testing and recordkeeping.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent task changes and time-sensitive testing.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
  • Capability to work effectively on a 2nd shift schedule (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM).
  • Ability to see and distinguish colors accurately for color matching responsibilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
  • A degree with no prior experience is acceptable.
  • Manufacturing experience without a degree is also acceptable.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with laboratory environments and procedures is advantageous.
  • Interest in growing within a stable, expanding business and moving into other departments or leadership roles over time.

Work Environment

The role is based primarily in a quality assurance lab with regular exposure to the manufacturing floor. The environment is fast-paced and ISO 9001 certified, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance for the healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and life sciences industries. The lab is fragrance-free and does not allow phones, ensuring a controlled and focused testing environment. Team members frequently move between the lab and the production floor to collect samples, and technicians remain with each sample from start to finish. The position involves walking and being on your feet for most of the shift. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including steel-toed shoes, which the employee will need to purchase; a reimbursement program is available after conversion to direct employment. The QA team on the 2nd/3rd shift includes several other Quality Assurance Technicians, fostering a collaborative and friendly team environment. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.05 - $22.05/hr.
