Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing manufacturing operation in the Columbus, Ohio area, for an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist. Day to day, you will split your time between the production floor and the quality office, inspecting materials, reviewing documentation, and working directly with operators and engineers to resolve issues before they become problems. This role suits someone detail-oriented and process-minded who enjoys digging into root causes, isn't afraid to flag a defect even under production pressure, and takes satisfaction in steadily improving how things are done.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections of raw materials, components, and finished goods
- Maintain and update quality control documentation, checklists, and SOPs
- Investigate nonconformances and lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues in real time
- Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with ISO and company quality standards
- Track and report quality metrics, defect trends, and scrap rates to management
- Calibrate and maintain inspection tools and testing equipment
- Support supplier quality reviews and incoming material inspections
- Assist in the development and delivery of quality training for production staff
- Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, or related field preferred
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a quality assurance or quality control role
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems
- Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 5 Why or fishbone diagrams
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including calipers and micrometers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Comfort working with Microsoft Excel and quality data tracking software
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on a production floor for extended periods
- Six Sigma or lean manufacturing certification a plus
