Job Details

We are seeking two Quality Assurance Inspectors to support fresh produce distribution operations in Laredo, TX. These are short-term temporary assignments, initially expected to last approximately one month, with the possibility of an additional month or permanent conversion.

Due to the short assignment duration, candidates must have prior hands-on fresh produce quality inspection experience and be able to contribute with minimal training.

Position Details:

• Location: Laredo, TX (100% onsite)
• Compensation: Target $21/hour, with flexibility for experienced candidates
• Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week
• Shifts: One day shift and one night shift available
• Duration: Approximately 1-2 months, with possible extension or permanent conversion
• Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities:

• Perform quality inspections on incoming and outgoing fresh produce, including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and similar products.
• Identify and evaluate defects, including mold, bruising, discoloration, damage, and temperature-related quality issues.
• Inspect produce against established quality bulletins, specifications, and acceptable defect tolerances.
• Determine whether shipments meet quality standards and escalate products that do not meet requirements.
• Verify product temperatures, weights, packaging conditions, and internal product quality.
• Conduct internal quality checks, including cutting produce to evaluate product condition.
• Document inspection results accurately and maintain organized quality records.
• Assist with food safety inspections, audits, and corrective action processes.
• Communicate quality concerns with warehouse, operations, and quality assurance teams.
• Maintain compliance with established food safety and workplace safety procedures.

Qualifications:

• Previous hands-on quality inspection experience involving fresh produce is required.
• Entry-level candidates are welcome, provided they have relevant QA inspection experience.
• Ability to identify produce defects and understand basic product quality standards.
• Familiarity with temperature monitoring, product grading, and quality inspection procedures.
• Ability to document inspection results and communicate findings effectively.
• Comfortable working in refrigerated environments ranging from 32°F–55°F.
• Ability to lift cases weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use email or electronic reporting tools.
• Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to established inspection procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous quality inspection experience in a fresh produce distribution center or packing facility.
• Working knowledge of HACCP, SQF, USDA inspection standards, or FSVP.
• Experience supporting food safety audits.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Teams, and electronic quality reporting.
