Overview
We are seeking a
Quality Engineer to support incoming inspection and supplier quality activities within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring incoming materials and components meet established quality standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality-related issues.
This is a contract opportunity supporting a facility that is scheduled for closure, with the current assignment expected to continue through year-end, subject to business needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform incoming inspections of materials and components to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Document inspection results, non-conformances, corrective actions, and quality records
- Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to investigate and resolve quality concerns
- Develop, maintain, and improve incoming inspection procedures and quality processes
- Analyze inspection data and quality trends to identify improvement opportunities
- Support decision-making through data analysis and reporting
- Provide training and guidance on quality standards, inspection methods, and best practices
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality and operational efficiency
- Assist with internal and external audits related to quality control and incoming inspection processes
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with incoming inspection and supplier quality processes
- Strong understanding of quality control methodologies and tools
- Knowledge of quality systems and standards, including ISO-based quality practices
- Proficiency with inspection and measurement equipment, including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Gauges
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause investigation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working with quality management systems and documentation processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar quality certification
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma
- Familiarity with electrical or mechanical component quality standards
- Experience supporting supplier quality improvement initiatives
- Background in manufacturing process improvement and operational excellence
