    External Job Description

    Purpose of Role

    At JELD-WEN, we craft doors and windows that bring beauty, security, and performance to homes and buildings worldwide. As a Quality Inspector, you will be a key player in maintaining our high standards by inspecting materials and finished products, identifying defects, and supporting continuous improvement efforts. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will help ensure every product meets our customers' expectations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished doors and windows for compliance with specifications.
    • Perform destructive and non-destructive tests according to standards.
    • Use measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
    • Record inspection results accurately and maintain documentation per JELD-WEN's quality procedures.
    • Identify and report non-conforming products; assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions, ensure containment and disposition of non-conforming materials.
    • Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and support process improvements.
    • Participate in internal audits and support compliance with ISO standards and customer requirements.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the manufacturing facility for extended periods.
    • Capable of lifting, carrying, and handling materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
    • Perform detailed visual inspections with precision and accuracy.
    • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions as needed.
    • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
    • Ability to respond quickly to quality issues on the production floor, including navigating stairs or uneven surfaces.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in quality or manufacturing preferred.
    • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or quality inspection role, ideally in building products or related industries.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
    • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ERP systems).
