Job Summary

IES Communications is seeking a Quality Training Specialist to support a large-scale, high-tech construction project in North Phoenix. This is a hands-on field position focused primarily on quality assurance, telecommunications installation standards, inspections, documentation, and field support, with opportunities to coach and train employees on proper installation and testing practices.

The ideal candidate brings strong, hands-on knowledge of low-voltage telecommunications infrastructure, including copper and fiber cabling, termination, testing, and equipment buildouts. This person should be comfortable working directly in an active construction environment and helping field teams meet both IES and customer quality expectations.

 

What You'll Do

  • Perform field quality inspections of telecommunications installations.
  • Verify installations meet applicable project, company, customer, quality, and code requirements.
  • Review completed work and provide quality sign-off prior to customer turnover.
  • Inspect and evaluate copper and fiber cabling installations.
  • Review testing results, inspection reports, and quality documentation.
  • Help identify installation issues and work with field teams to correct deficiencies.
  • Coach and mentor technicians on proper installation, termination, testing, and quality practices.
  • Provide hands-on or classroom training when specific training needs arise.
  • Support training involving proper testing, termination, installation methods, and IES quality standards.
  • Prepare and maintain quality and performance documentation.
  • Help drive process improvements and consistent quality practices across the project.
  • Work collaboratively with project management, field leadership, and quality teams.

The intake specifically emphasized that training will generally involve guiding and mentoring employees in the field, with occasional formal classes for groups when a particular skill needs reinforcement.

Qualifications:

What We're Looking For

  • Strong hands-on experience with low-voltage/telecommunications cabling systems.
  • Knowledge of Cat 6 and Cat 6A installation, pulling, termination, and testing.
  • Knowledge of fiber-optic cable installation, termination, and testing.
  • Experience with IDF, rack and/or cabinet buildouts.
  • Ability to inspect telecommunications installations and recognize quality issues.
  • Understanding of industry installation standards, codes, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project documents, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and mentor field employees.
  • Strong documentation, organization, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous training experience is beneficial, but extensive formal classroom training experience is not required based on the manager's intake.[Intro & In...& Quality | Word]

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous quality assurance experience within structured cabling, telecommunications, low voltage, electrical, or commercial construction.
  • Experience using Fluke testing equipment and reviewing test results.
  • Current or previous BICSI certification/training.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or developing technicians in the field.
  • Project management or construction project experience.
