Position: Qualitative Research Evaluator

Location: Remote

Project Duration: 4 Years from Projected Start Date

Job Description:

The Qualitative Research Evaluator will lead the design, implementation, and reporting of qualitative evaluations for the Rhode Island Behavioral Health System of Care (RISOC). This individual will partner with DCYF leadership, community stakeholders, families, youth, and governance teams to evaluate system-wide behavioral health initiatives, support federal grant reporting requirements, and drive continuous quality improvement efforts through community-engaged research.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Designing and conducting qualitative research evaluations for RISOC programs and initiatives.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting qualitative data at both program and system levels.
  • Using evaluation findings to inform decision-making and improve system performance.
  • Engaging families, youth, and community partners in participatory research efforts.
  • Facilitating community-based qualitative research projects focused on behavioral health services.
  • Supporting strategic planning and strengthening community partnerships.
  • Collaborating with multiple agencies and stakeholders on evaluation activities.
  • Maintaining secure data dashboards and reporting systems.
  • Providing evaluation expertise and project guidance to RISOC leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree required in Human Services, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in qualitative research and evaluation within human services or related systems.
  • Experience with systems-level evaluation and measuring outcomes across complex service environments.
  • Experience with System of Care (SOC) grant reporting requirements and processes.
  • Experience designing and facilitating community-engaged research initiatives.
  • 3+ years leading qualitative research and evaluation efforts in complex human services systems.
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative research methods and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of the System of Care Framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience collaborating with community stakeholders, families, youth, and interagency teams.
  • Ability to facilitate workgroups, trainings, and community engagement activities.
  • Experience supporting continuous quality improvement and data-driven decision making.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state for conferences, meetings, and behavioral health-related events.
