The Client is seeking an experienced QA Tester/Application Tester to support system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), requirements validation, and quality assurance activities for the Connecticut Information Sharing System (CISS) and other CJIS-managed applications.

The QA Tester will be responsible for designing and executing test strategies, developing test cases, validating system functionality, documenting test results, managing defects, and supporting continuous improvement of testing processes. The candidate will work closely with project managers, developers, business stakeholders, and testing teams to ensure applications meet functional, technical, and security requirements while complying with CJIS standards.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements.
• Perform system testing, regression testing, integration testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Create detailed test results reports and provide testing documentation to project teams and stakeholders.
• Validate requirements traceability matrices to ensure system functionality aligns with contractual and business requirements.
• Identify, document, track, and manage defects using defect management tools.
• Collaborate with developers and project teams to troubleshoot issues and support defect resolution.
• Perform manual testing of web services using tools such as SoapUI and Postman.
• Test applications involving complex XML standards, including NIEM XML or similar data exchange formats.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Support automation framework development, expansion, and integration with DevOps pipelines.
• Maintain automated test suites and generate automation test reports using tools such as Extent Reports.
• Perform data-driven automation testing activities.
• Write and execute complex SQL queries for backend data validation using Microsoft SQL Server.
• Support testing activities for application releases and enhancements.
• Prepare presentations and reports for stakeholders, management, and project leadership.
• Collaborate effectively with developers, testers, designers, team leads, and project managers.
• Follow CJIS security policies, confidentiality requirements, and organizational standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience as a QA Tester/Application Tester for IT projects.
• Experience creating test cases, test scripts, test plans, and test documentation.
• Strong experience with manual testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Experience testing web services using SoapUI and/or Postman.
• Experience working with complex XML standards such as NIEM XML or similar technologies.
• Strong SQL skills with experience writing complex queries for data validation.
• Experience with automation testing frameworks and automation suite maintenance.
• Knowledge of automation reporting tools such as Extent Reports.
• Experience integrating automated testing solutions with DevOps environments.
• Proficiency with GitHub and version control practices.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Java or C#.
• Experience with SOA technologies and integrated enterprise applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Ability to analyze complex systems, troubleshoot issues, and identify root causes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience working with IBM Rational Jazz Suite.
• Experience in criminal justice, government, or highly regulated environments.
• Understanding of CJIS security policies and compliance requirements.
