Position Summary

Join a fast-paced automotive engineering team supporting the validation of Body Interior and Exterior systems. This hands-on role will execute laboratory tests, operate specialized equipment, manage test samples and documentation, and partner closely with validation engineers to support development and DVP activities. This position requires strong laboratory execution skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple testing activities in a dynamic engineering environment.

Responsibilities
Execute development validation, design validation, and production validation testing on automotive components and subsystems.
Operate environmental chambers, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, servo-electric actuators, abrasion testers, xenon weathering equipment, scratch testers, and coating performance equipment.
Prepare test samples, fixtures, and instrumentation.
Monitor tests and accurately document conditions, observations, and results.
Capture organized test data, photographs, and inspection findings.
Coordinate shipment, receipt, storage, and tracking of test parts between internal teams, suppliers, and external laboratories.
Maintain and update Jira tickets for test requests, execution status, open issues, and DVP tracking.
Support validation engineers with test setup, inspections, failure analysis documentation, and report preparation.
Assist with laboratory readiness, equipment checks, calibration activities, inventory management, safety practices, and 5S initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent practical experience in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, Automotive Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
2-3 years of experience in an engineering laboratory, automotive testing environment, manufacturing engineering, or product validation organization.
Experience operating laboratory test equipment, instrumentation, or DAQ systems.
Ability to read and follow test procedures and basic engineering drawings.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Jira and/or Confluence.
Automotive OEM experience.
Tier 1 supplier experience.
Independent test laboratory experience.

Physical Requirements
Ability to safely work around mechanical test equipment and environmental chambers.
Ability to stand for extended periods while performing laboratory activities.
Ability to lift and move test samples and fixtures up to 50 pounds.
Ability to travel occasionally between testing locations and facilities as needed.
