Our long-tenured client, a well-established distribution company that is growing its product lines, is searching for a QA/QC and Compliance Specialist to support their purchasing, quality control and regulatory compliance work. This is an onsite role in Essex County, NJ, Monday through Friday, 8-4 or 9-5.
Reporting to the Director of Purchasing, this hybrid role combines purchasing and inventory management with quality control and compliance. It's flexible: the right person may lean more toward purchasing or more toward quality control and compliance, and learn the other side on the job. You'll work with suppliers here and overseas, outside testing labs, and teams across the company.
In this role YOU will:
Follow up with suppliers to collect test reports, certificates of conformity, certificates of analysis and supplier declarations, and keep product compliance files current.
Review incoming product, inspection reports, test results, packaging and labels against approved specifications, regulations and retailer requirements.
Coordinate third-party product testing, certification and inspections, and make sure new products have the right testing and documentation before launch.
Investigate quality issues, customer complaints and non-conformances, and help drive root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
Work in retailer vendor portals and the company's custom enterprise resource planning system.
Support purchasing and inventory management for imported products, working closely with overseas suppliers.
Monitor changes in regulations, standards and retailer requirements, and support recalls and regulatory inquiries when needed.
YOU might be the right person if YOU come from either side:
Purchasing or procurement: experience buying imported products and working with overseas suppliers, and an interest in learning quality control and compliance.
Quality control or compliance: experience with product testing, inspections or compliance documentation for consumer products, apparel or food products, and an interest in learning purchasing.
Either way, YOU have:
An associate's or bachelor's degree in quality, engineering, business, regulatory affairs, supply chain or a related field.
The ability to read and interpret product specifications, test reports, standards and regulatory requirements.
Strong attention to detail, organized follow-up across many projects, and clear communication with suppliers, labs and internal teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word and Outlook) and comfort learning new systems, including retailer vendor portals and enterprise resource planning systems.
Experience with imported consumer products, clothing, plush toys, latex products, pet products, or food.
Familiarity with Consumer Product Safety Commission rules, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, ASTM standards, button and coin battery safety rules (Reese's Law), labeling requirements or retailer compliance programs, a plus.
Our client offers a base salary of $70,000-$80,000, bonus eligibility, and excellent benefits.
