    Description

    IDR is seeking a QA Engineer III to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity. This role involves owning quality strategy and execution for a leading gaming platform, focusing on compatibility testing across various hardware, operating systems, and performance tiers. The position offers the chance to work within a dynamic industry, ensuring a reliable and seamless experience for millions of players worldwide.

    Position Overview for the QA Engineer III:

    • Own the compatibility test strategy, planning, execution, and reporting for major game releases and updates.
    • Define risk-based coverage to ensure the game functions correctly across supported hardware and software configurations.
    • Investigate complex compatibility issues, communicate their impact, and recommend mitigation strategies.
    • Collaborate with engineering, platform, and customer support teams to improve diagnostics, automation, and testing processes.
    • Mentor junior team members and contribute to reusable testing standards and assets.

    Requirements for the QA Engineer III:

    • 6+ years of software quality assurance experience, including leadership in QA efforts for complex products or live-service releases.
    • Experience with compatibility, systems, hardware, client, or platform-focused testing, including risk-based test planning and coverage strategy.
    • Experience investigating defects across hardware, operating systems, drivers, peripherals, graphics, input, or performance conditions and translating findings into clear release decisions.
    • Experience working with distributed or external QA teams, operating independently, managing ambiguity, and influencing decisions across disciplines; strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience testing live-service games, especially PC games with frequent patches and a broad range of player hardware configurations.
