Description

Our Client, an IT Services and Consultant company, is looking for a QA Automation Engineer – Playwright / API / Mobile for their Troy, MI/ Lowell, MA location.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for web, mobile, API, and backend applications.
  • Create and implement automated functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing solutions.
  • Collaborate with product owners, software engineers, business analysts, and UX teams to understand requirements and define test strategies.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, and sprint planning activities to ensure testability and quality considerations are addressed early in the development lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain reusable automation frameworks, libraries, and utilities following established coding standards and best practices.
  • Create and execute API tests using REST, GraphQL, and other service-based architectures.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid delivery.
  • Implement test data management strategies and support test environment setup and maintenance.
  • Monitor product quality metrics and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform root cause analysis of production defects and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Create and maintain testing documentation, including test plans, test cases, automation architecture diagrams, and quality reports.
  • Participate in code reviews for both application and test automation code.
  • Collaborate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Advocate for quality engineering best practices across the software development lifecycle.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance or software development.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience developing automated test solutions using modern automation frameworks and programming languages.
  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, testing strategies, and quality assurance principles.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with API testing tools and frameworks.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or similar.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with test management, defect tracking, and Agile development practices.
  • Experience with Git-based source control workflows.
  • Understanding of software architecture, system integrations, and microservices-based applications.
  • Experience working within Agile development teams using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Experience with Playwright and TypeScript-based automation frameworks.
  • Experience with mobile test automation using Appium or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or LoadRunner.
  • Experience testing cloud-native applications deployed on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of behavior-driven development (BDD) frameworks such as SpecFlow or Cucumber.
  • Experience implementing test reporting and quality dashboards.
  • Knowledge of secure software development and security testing practices.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, or TeamCity.
  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise software development environments.
  • Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD), microservices architectures, and event-driven systems.
  • Experience testing distributed enterprise applications and microservices architectures.
  • Experience validating integrations across APIs, message queues, databases, and external systems.
  • Familiarity with RBAC/security testing and enterprise identity management solutions.
  • Ability to establish quality gates and testing standards across multiple development teams.
  • Experience building quality engineering practices within Agile product organizations.
