PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK

Positions in this class are responsible for supervision and participation in the work of Capital Improvements Engineering division of the Capital Improvements Department. Incumbents work independently on projects distributed under the general direction of the Director of Capital Improvements, and have supervisory responsibilities for professional engineers, engineering interns, and technicians.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Progressively responsible experience in municipal public works engineering.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer with the State of Louisiana or a state granting reciprocal recognition of registration. Non-residents must qualify for reciprocity by the Louisiana State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

TYPE OF EXAMINATION

Examination will be a rating of education and experience.
