The Clinical CoordinatorFaculty role will provide support to Purdue University Global. Building on Purdue Universitys mission to provide greater access to affordable high-quality education, Purdue University Global is a public nonprofit institution offering a world-class education online.
Successful candidates in this role will reside in the Cedar Rapids IA metro area or within a commutable distance. The simulation site is located at The Center for Healthcare Education and Simulation 1795 IA-64 Anamosa IA 52205.
Job Summary
This role is a clinical coordinator position and faculty position. The incumbent will typically teach a theory course or do clinical and/or labs along with the clinical coordinating responsibilities and based on University needs. Full-time faculty may have responsibilities in four areas: teaching, service, scholarship, and professional development. The amount of time spent in each area is determined on an annual basis after discussion between the faculty member and their Program Head and may vary from year to year.
The workload is based on the needs of the Department and School consistent with the universitys mission as a teaching institution. While the majority of faculty typically spend the greatest percentage of their time teaching, there is the opportunity in a given year for the percentage of time in any category to change.
Teaching Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate ASN courses. The number of courses assigned will consider credentials, program needs, course types, the number of different preparations, and the number of students served.
Service Responsibilities
Service typically includes participating in and/or taking leadership roles in Purdue Global department or institution-wide governance committees. Service examples also include:
• Course lead training and mentoring other faculty • Facilitating student-focused organizations or activities • Evaluating student portfolios • Curriculum work • Vacation relief for colleagues • Leadership in professional organizations
In limited cases, specific service activities may be assigned additional compensation.
Scholarship Activities
Scholarship activities vary with the interests of the individual faculty member and may not be required. Scholarship activities should be developed in consultation with the Dean, Associate Dean, or Program Head. Examples of PG scholarship activities include:
• Developing and implementing solutions or new approaches to academic and professional challenges • Publishing articles related to research within the discipline or profession • Presenting at academic or professional meetings
Professional Development
Some professional development is required for all faculty over the course of a year. Faculty development beyond these minimum expectations may be considered part of an annual workload if determined appropriate by the Academic Program Head or requested by the faculty member and approved by the Program Head.
A balance of these four responsibilities is intended to sustain the academic goals of the university to serve adult learners and advance the professional goals of the faculty while creating a supportive learning environment that provides students with a clear path to graduation.
What to Expect in This Role
• Provides a student-centered learning environment which enables students to achieve success. • Designs and implements communication tools for initial and ongoing contact with clinical sites in order to develop and maintain positive relationships. • Maintains records of clinical site contacts, minutes of meetings with clinical site representatives, annual site reviews, and other communications as they occur. • Collaborates with all involved parties to plan for specific clinical rotations with consideration for the number of clinical hours required for the experience and suitable locations. • Assists with rotation schedules for clinical and simulation assignments, including specific student and faculty assignments in collaboration with Academic Program Head. • Maintains a record of clinical partners and the respective Affiliation Agreements to ensure the School of Nursing is in compliance. • Ensures all student immunizations are current. • Clarifies and communicates information to the host facility, including but not limited to clinical schedules, dates of experience, names of students assigned, current immunization, and CPR documentation and any other requested information. • Required to meet with facility representatives during day, evening, or weekend hours on an as-needed basis. • Keeps Academic Program Head apprised of clinical concerns and incidents. • Maintaining program and course outcomes at a level to ensure appropriate workplace skill levels for graduates. • Regularly attending and participating in faculty meetings and continuous improvement sessions. • Remaining current with trends, techniques, and advances in technology that are applicable to the program.
Experience
• Masters degree or progress towards from a regionally accredited institution and other credentials as established by the School. • Area of Study: Nursing • Two to four years related experience and/or training • Clinical and/or lab experience with simulation, including direct patient care within the last 2 years • Active unencumbered registered nursing license and/or advanced practice registered nursing license • Microsoft Office suite • Knowledge of Databases, Internet, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software • Use of PC Internet simulation equipment and basic nursing equipment • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Valid drivers license in the state of employment (Iowa) and surrounding states
Additional Information
