Summary:
This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Purchasing & Logistics and the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services. The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for supervising, planning, and coordinating the purchasing activities for the district. Coordinates purchasing services with other departments, outside vendors and agencies, and the general public.

Knowledge and Skills:
Purchasing procedures and bid specification preparation; knowledge of the material control function.
Contract law as related to purchasing; familiarity with business accounting practices.
Principles and practices associated with purchasing and materials management including that which applies to government and education.
Technical aspects of researching, evaluating and procuring equipment, materials, supplies and services.
Rules and regulations governing purchasing in education and the public sector
Competitive bidding practices and procedures.
Warehousing, control, and distribution of inventory and of postal rates, regulations, and procedures
Well-developed skills with personal computer, ten key, and computer applications including, but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, email, and databases.
Math skills to perform cost and financial analysis.
English language skills to prepare reports and professional correspondence.
Human relations skills sufficient to carry out bid and contract reviews and interact with vendors and contractors, conduct price and service negotiations, review performance, and convey technical concepts to district staff.
Abilities:
Interpret and apply policies and procedures used in the procuring of equipment, materials, supplies and services for a school district.
Implement and integrate all aspects of centralized function that also includes the inventory of and accounting for fixed assets.
Organize and supervise the work of others.
Perform general clerical work as applied to purchasing.
Communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
Write clear and concise reports with technical accuracy of information and data received.
Maintain proper record keeping.
Supervise personnel and distribute work assignments, administer contractual relationships, and to maintain inventory control systems and procedures.
Maintain productive and cooperative working relationships with others including, but not limited to, faculty, administrators, vendors, contractors, and staff.

Salary and Terms of Service:
Salary range (4) $77,204 to $93,592 per year, nine (9) steps, eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week (M-F), 12 months per year. Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical, and vision insurance, prepaid life insurance plan for employee only.
