Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Specialist in the South Bend area. This role requires an individual who can effectively manage vendor relationships and optimize purchasing strategies to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Build and maintain a network of reliable and quality suppliers to support company and customer needs.

  • Develop and implement cost-effective purchasing strategies, tracking key metrics to minimize expenses and boost effectiveness.

  • Evaluate and compare vendor options focusing on reliability, quality, and pricing.

  • Consistently liaise with suppliers to confirm or modify orders as necessary.

  • Regularly review and adjust inventory levels to ensure optimal supply.

  • Negotiate effectively with vendors to secure favorable terms.

  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely reporting and physical inventory checks.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams on project orders to guarantee timely delivery.

  • Track sales order statuses, confirm daily team orders, and follow up on overdue orders.

  • Manage returns and track them appropriately.

  • Handle warranty tracking, including customer communication and follow-up.

  • Process customer credits and enter required data into QuickBooks (purchasing module).

  • Coordinate international commercial orders and invoice pass-through orders.

  • Communicate proactively with team members and customers while maintaining confidentiality.



Qualifications:



  • Demonstrated experience in purchasing with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal abilities.

  • Professional demeanor in interactions with vendors, customers, and team members.

  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with a proactive and analytical mindset.

  • Proficient in MS Office products and Quickbooks Desktop, preferred.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.

  • Educational background: Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform general office tasks.



Location: South Bend (onsite)


Hours: Mon-Fri 8a-5p


Compensation: $55K
