Our primary service area extends from Knoxville, Tennessee, into Southwest Virginia. We also have the capability to service projects into the surrounding regions and beyond.     We are currently seeking to fill a Purchasing Specialist and Safety Coordinator position on our team. The ideal candidate for this position is an organized individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across our team and customer base.     ThePurchasing Specialist and Safety Coordinator ensuresthateachpurchaseorderissuedbyProcessSupply,Inc. is shipped on time from the vendor. The Purchasing Specialist and Safety Coordinator is expected to effectively interact with all sales and purchasing personnel as well as actively communicate with vendors on a frequent basis in a professional manner. Typical duties and responsibilities include:

    • Print and review weekly Open Purchase Order Report that indicates required due dates. Only purchase orders due within a two-week time frame are included in this report.
    • Contact vendors via phone, email, or fax to receive status updates and confirmations.
    • Update inventory system, if necessary, upon receipt of an acceptable ship date from the vendor.
    • Negotiate with vendors if an unacceptable ship date has been indicated on the Open Order Status Form. The parameters set forth by the General Manager shall be adhered to concerning acceptable vs. unacceptable ship dates.
    • Communicate effectively with affected personnel giving status updates regarding specific purchase orders.
    • Check order acknowledgements from mills for accuracy.
    • Scan printed purchase orders in document retrieval system.
    • Daily review of Excel spreadsheet for conversion orders with material shipping late.
    • Assist the General Manager in other functions that are deemed necessary to effectively maintain purchasing tasks.
    • Monitor and report immediately to the General Manager any conflicts between the safety system, employee safety performance, and overall operations.
    • Organize and maintain accurate information regarding the Company’s safety system.
    • Ensure required safety postings are accurate and up to date throughout the organization.
    • Schedule and maintain all safety related inspections and repairs.
    • Maintain safety and medical supplies, fire extinguishers, and other shop supplies to ensure a safe work environment.
    • Participate in monthly safety meetings and other relevant meetings as required.
    • Perform safety walks daily and immediately report any discrepancies to the General Manager. 
    • Contribute to a positive work environment based on teamwork and continuous improvement.
    • Communicate effectively with sales representatives, co-workers, and management.
    • Adhere to all Company safety rules, regulations, quality standards, handbook policies and procedures.

    Required Qualifications:

    • HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent 
    • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • 1+ years of purchasing experience
    • 1+ years of safety experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
    • 3+ years of purchasing experience
    • Experience in the metals industry
