We are seeking an experienced and analytical Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement, sourcing, and material management operations. In this role, you will be responsible for procuring raw materials (primarily steel, tube components, and specialty metals), managing vendor relationships, and optimizing inventory levels to support our fast-paced fabrication shifts. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in manufacturing procurement, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record of controlling material costs without compromising production deadlines.

Job Details
Source and purchase raw materials including steel coil, sheet metal, structural tubing, hardware, and other materials used in fabrication and CNC operations.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with metals suppliers, distributors, and service centers while negotiating pricing, contracts, lead times, and delivery terms.
Work closely with production to forecast material needs, maintain proper inventory levels, and prevent material shortages that could impact production.
Create, track, and reconcile purchase orders using ERP/MRP systems.
Partner with Quality to review material certifications and quickly resolve quality issues, incorrect shipments, and supplier non-conformances.
Monitor incoming freight and supplier deliveries to ensure materials arrive on time and production schedules remain on track.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, purchasing strategies, and inventory improvements.
Track market pricing and availability for steel and other key raw materials.
Qualifications
5+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or materials management experience within manufacturing, metal fabrication, machining, or a similar industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of steel, metals, raw materials, and manufacturing supply chains.
Experience purchasing steel coil, sheet metal, tubing, hardware, or similar manufacturing materials strongly preferred.
Strong supplier negotiation and vendor management experience.
Experience working with ERP/MRP purchasing and inventory systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and purchasing-related data analysis.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work closely with production, quality, engineering, and operations teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred but not required with relevant industry experience.
