Purchasing Manager

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to support direct material purchasing and sourcing activities across a growing automotive manufacturing organization.

This position will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management and suppliers throughout the Americas. The right person will bring strong automotive/manufacturing purchasing experience, commodity knowledge, supplier negotiation skills and the ability to manage issues with urgency and sound judgment.

This is not a transactional purchasing role. We are looking for someone who can understand the broader business impact, manage supplier and customer escalations, support purchasing strategy and provide leadership to the purchasing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for direct material commodities
• Lead RFQs, supplier selection, quote analysis and commercial negotiations
• Manage supplier relationships across quality, delivery, cost and supply continuity
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives
• Monitor commodity pricing, material trends and supply chain risk
• Support new product launches and program purchasing activity
• Manage supplier performance reviews and escalation issues
• Resolve supply disruptions quickly and proactively
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management and customers
• Maintain accurate purchasing information within SAP/ERP systems
• Support and develop buyers and purchasing team members across the Americas
• Help validate purchasing strategy, priorities and supplier decisions

Preferred Background

• 10+ years of progressive purchasing, sourcing or procurement experience preferred
• Automotive Tier 1/Tier 2 or related manufacturing experience strongly preferred
• Direct material and commodity purchasing experience
• Previous purchasing leadership, team lead or management experience
• Strong supplier negotiation and contract experience
• SAP experience strongly preferred
• Strong customer-facing and escalation-management skills
• High sense of urgency and strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving manufacturing environment
