    Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities: 

    • Place and maintain purchase orders for the procurement and management of steel products.
    • Negotiate and contracting with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing and terms.
    • Continuously analyze market trends and customer demand to identify needs of inventory.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure proper supply is on hand for customer needs.
    • Build strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to foster a collaborative and productive business partnership.
    • Develop and present reports to the General Manager on purchasing & inventory levels.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that all orders are placed in a timely manner and that all communications with mills and suppliers are clear and concise.
    • Monitor the performance of mills and suppliers to ensure that they are meeting our quality standards and delivery requirements.
    • Manage any issues or disputes that may arise with suppliers, working with cross-functional teams as necessary to find solutions.
    • Submit claims to suppliers for non conforming products or services.
    • Support/backup Quality processes with Quality manager.
    • Provide inside support of IT systems with outside vendor and Corporate IT.

    Required Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain productive business relationships.
    • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing strategic plans.
    • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to use data to make informed decisions.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Experience managing and leading a team, preferably in a procurement or supply chain management setting.
    • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve their goals.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field.
    • Experience in the steel industry is preferred not expected.

    Physical Demands & Work Environment:

    • Typical office environment.

    Work time sitting, working on computer, using keyboard, talking on the telephone. Bending, twisting, typing using fine motor skills, using hands and fingers up to 8 hours per day. Work time will also be spent communicating verbally and in writing.
