Position Title: Purchasing Inventory Specialist
Department: Purchasing Department
Location: Plainwell Plant
Purchasing Assistant/Inventory Specialist: AM 8 HOURS —Serves under Purchasing Supervisor
The primary responsibilities of the purchasing assistant/inventory specialist are to manage inventory and work on inventory projects.
Expected duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage yearly cycle counts and parts not counted
- Work with Material Master regarding master data that affects inventory
- Inventory projects
- 5S
- Parts/Packaging disposal
- Reduction of inventory/overstock
- Critical BOM
Individual must be attentive to detail and record keeping to perform the following:
- Retrieving, issuing, and documenting parts and materials as they are received and dispersed.
- Receiving and taking delivery of parts and materials.
- Assist in training purchasing assistants
- Parts investigation
- Working with the vendor to determine lead times or to find an alternate material
- Filing paperwork and documents by combination of company name and numerical sequence.
Individuals must have strong work ethic, be dependable, able to work independently (often without direct supervision) and possess a strong cooperative attitude.
Other experience or background that is not required but is helpful and preferred is:
- Ability to speak and/or write Spanish
- Strong Computer Skills – with emphasis in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with mechanical parts and materials
- Maintenance experience
- Experience with packaging materials
- Experience in handling chemicals
- Warehouse or stockroom experience.
