    Description

    Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator manages day-to-day purchasing and inventory activities to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and controlling costs. This role works closely with suppliers and internal teams to stay ahead of material needs, maintain inventory accuracy, resolve supply issues, and support efficient production operations.

    This position is located onsite in Lenexa, KS.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Source and evaluate suppliers, obtain competitive quotes, and support purchasing decisions based on quality, cost, availability, lead time, and business needs.
    • Create, review, and track purchase orders while proactively addressing supplier delays, shortages, pricing discrepancies, damaged goods, and other issues.
    • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships and identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, lead times, and supplier performance.
    • Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment based on demand, lead times, min/max levels, reorder points, and other established inventory parameters.
    • Partner with Production, Sales, and Operations to forecast material requirements and ensure materials are available to support production and customer demand.
    • Coordinate cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory audits, investigating and resolving discrepancies as they arise.
    • Monitor material shortages, excess inventory, and slow-moving inventory and proactively communicate potential risks.
    • Coordinate with Logistics and warehouse personnel on inbound shipments, returns, and RMAs, including tracking shipments and resolving transportation or documentation issues.

    Experience & Education

    Required

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Two or more years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, supply chain, manufacturing operations, or a related role.
    • Experience creating and tracking purchase orders and working directly with suppliers.
    • Experience monitoring inventory levels, conducting inventory counts, and reconciling discrepancies.
    • Experience working with an inventory management system, ERP, or similar business system.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to work primarily in a professional office environment with regular interaction in warehouse and production areas.
    • Ability to work around varying temperatures, noise, moving equipment, compressed gases, and other conditions typical of an industrial environment while following required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
    • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift as required.
    • Minimal travel may be required.
