JOB GOAL:

To support department leadership in the performance of CNP-related functions for Mobile County Public Schools and assigned department staff with specific responsibility for processing USDA commodity and purchasing documents and materials and responding to related inquiries; and maintaining vendor/source information and inventories while adhering to applicable school system policies and state and federal laws.

The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performs a variety of CNP duties under the direction of the Food Service Director, such as review of In County Travel Forms, for the purpose of providing departmental support.
  • Uses approved software and systems to review and process purchase orders for goods, supplies, and equipment as requested to support the department's needs and communicate and provide supporting documentation and information to outside vendors, suppliers, and other MCPSS CNP personnel as needed.
  • Maintains USDA commodity inventory and distribution lists for the purpose of informing CNP staff and maintaining and providing reliable information, ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintains monthly USDA commodity reconciliation and files annual report for end of school year and fiscal year for the purpose of remaining in compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Receives and verifies accuracy of incoming USDA commodities for the purpose of ensuring availability and proper allocation of items and/or compliance with mandated health standards.
  • Prepares and reviews various reports and program data, including monthly/yearly rebate report, food loss report, monthly invoices for hauling charges, and other reports, for the purpose of recording activities and providing reliable and up-to-date information to department heads and district leadership as required and/or requested.
  • Collects and maintains proper documentation for the purpose of recording activities, providing reliable information, and ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Participates in a variety of approved trainings, activities, and events, including in-service programs, seminars, conferences, workshops, etc. to address professional learning needs.
  • Receives information and communicates with ALSDE CNP and school CNP Managers via e -mail and State web site in order to support departmental needs.
  • Provides support to the CNP Director in the implementation of department operations and procedures as needed.
  • Performs general and program specific clerical functions (e.g. answering the telephones, documenting professional development, developing department manuals, scheduling, copying, faxing, timestamping, ordering office supplies, etc.) for the purpose of supporting departmental activities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalent.

Must have knowledge of computer programs including spreadsheets (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or equivalent word processing and accounting software).

Must have the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.

Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to parents, vendors, and school system staff.

Must be able to function with independence and initiative.

Must work well under pressure.

Must be able to understand oral and written instructions.

Must possess a valid Alabama driver's license and be willing to use a personal vehicle (minimum use).

Must possess a Mobile County Health Department Food Handler's Permit.

Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of student/parent information.

This position requires specialized training and skills; therefore, no requests for transfer will be considered for a period of two years.

Duty Days 260

Salary Range: From/To Beginning pay - $41,588.00

Additional Job Information

Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
