A precision manufacturer of medical-grade components in Hawthorne, CA is adding a Buyer to its production office. This is a brand-new seat created by growth, not a backfill.
Right now purchasing is split between the Director of Operations and the office staff, and it has become the company’s biggest bottleneck — parts sit waiting days for POs to get cut and quotes to come back. The Buyer takes that work over and owns it.
You’d join a four-person production office alongside the Office Manager, Document Control, the Planner and the Production Manager, reporting to the Director of Operations, who currently handles the raw material purchasing and will train you into the role.
This starts as a six-month contract with the intent to convert to a permanent position.
What You’ll Do
- Own day-to-day purchasing for raw materials, tooling, consumables and outsourced services
- Cut purchase orders and drive quotes back from vendors so production isn’t waiting on parts
- Manage vendor relationships — pricing, lead times, expediting, issue resolution
- Coordinate with the Planner and Production Manager so material arrives ahead of job starts
- Maintain accurate purchasing data in the company ERP system
- Track open POs, confirm deliveries and chase down late shipments
- Support the Director of Operations on broader supply chain and operational needs
