Education Requirements

• Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Food Science, or a related field preferred

Experience Requirements

• Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or Buyer in the food manufacturing industry
• Experience sourcing food ingredients and packaging materials
• Knowledge of vendor qualification, purchasing contracts, and supply chain processes
• Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software preferred
• Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

• Source and negotiate with vendors and brokers for food ingredients and baked goods materials
• Ensure purchased products meet exact specifications and quality requirements
• Review and manage supplier contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
• Coordinate purchasing activities with production and planning teams to maintain supply continuity
• Procure packaging materials including films, containers, and printed packaging components
• Monitor market trends and pricing to achieve cost control goals
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors
• Resolve supply chain issues, delays, and quality concerns in a timely manner
• Track inventory needs and purchasing timelines to support production schedules
• Support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance initiatives

What You Will Do

As a Purchasing Agent you will support daily manufacturing operations by assembling products, operating production equipment, inspecting finished goods, packaging materials, maintaining production standards, and following established work instructions.
