Dr. Ranu Surolia is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join her laboratory in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative research program focused on inhalation and systemic toxicant exposure, mechanisms leading to chronic lung disease, adaptive immune responses and airway inflammation, and mouse models of toxicant exposure and immune modulation.
The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to lead independent projects, develop new experimental and computational expertise, publish high-impact manuscripts, present findings at national and international meetings, and prepare for an independent research career. Dr. Surolia's laboratory provides a supportive and collaborative training environment within UAB's strong pulmonary research community.
The successful candidate should be highly motivated, scientifically curious, well organized, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. Strong written and oral communication skills are expected.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have a PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in T-cell biology, pulmonary disease, or a related field or a related field. Prior experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: flow cytometry and single-cell transcriptomics. Candidates should have a strong publication record, possess the ability to independently design and execute experiments and have excellent communication skills.
