Public Works Crew Chief

Responsible opportunity providing safe, clean, and welcoming parks for Palm Beach County residents and visitors. This Crew Chief position is on Peanut Island. Performs duties in accordance with Park Operations Division quality standards. Reviews the work of crews engaged in the maintenance of park landscapes and facilities. Work tasks include but are not limited to: Performing daily park maintenance, interacting with park visitors, performing safety checks, scheduling routine and preventive maintenance, and assigning tasks. Trains maintenance staff and reviews work performance on the daily maintenance of parks, campgrounds, and on the operation of the equipment. Assists the Parks Supervisor with various administrative duties. Maintains equipment and records. Prepares a wide array of written documentation. Operates various boats for transportation to and from the Island for maintenance staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:

• Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction, maintenance, athletic, park, golf, equestrian facility, or event preparation, including three (3) months of experience directing the work of others.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

The selected candidate for this position MUST:

• Obtain Safe Boater Certification and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within 12 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience in operating boats,
• Safe Boater Certification, and
• Valid FL Class A/B CDL (must specify on application).
