Public Pre-School Teacher

Administrator: Director of Teaching and Learning

Reports To: Prospect Academy Principal/Building Administrator

General Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and implement the educational activities of pre-school children.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Childhood Education.
  • Passing of a background check BCI and FBI
  • Familiarity with Ohio''s Step Up To Quality standards.
  • Two years'' experience in pre-school teaching
  • Ability to meet all licensing and employment requirements established by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and the Ohio Department of Children and Youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Childhood Education.
  • Previous preschool teaching experience.
  • Valid Kindergarten Primary Certificate.

Job Description/Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned to Ohio''s Early Learning and Development Standards.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes exploration, creativity, and student success.
  • Foster the development of early literacy, mathematics, language, science, social-emotional learning, and motor skills.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of all learners.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student growth and guide instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and required documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with intervention specialists, therapists, support staff, and administrators to support student achievement.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and intervention planning as appropriate.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies that promote student engagement.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, meals, recess, transitions, and field trips.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and district initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with all requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW), the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY), and the district.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
