JOB TITLE: Public Information Officer (PIO) / Communications Coordinator

REPORTS TO/EVALUATED BY: Superintendent or Designee

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months

SALARY RANGE: Coordinator Salary Schedule ($81,880- $85,273 + up to $10,000 in other incentives)

The Public Information Officer (PIO) is responsible for leading the district's communications, public relations, branding, and crisis communication efforts in alignment with district priorities, School Board policy, and applicable laws. The PIO serves as the primary spokesperson and liaison between the school system and the public, including media, families, community stakeholders, and external agencies.

This position ensures accurate, timely, and transparent communication while protecting the integrity and reputation of the school system. The PIO develops and implements strategic communication plans that promote district initiatives, enhance community engagement, support student success, and maintain public trust. The position also plays a critical role in crisis management and emergency communications, ensuring the district responds effectively to sensitive or high-profile situations. The Public Information Officer shall work collaboratively with district leadership, principals, department leaders, legal counsel, and community partners to support consistent messaging, brand alignment, and positive stakeholder relations.
